Why is it that you grind your teeth together at night? You worry that I’m someplace else and I don’t understand what anybody wants. It is entirely possible to keep one’s body still yet remain absent. So if my home is in the trees and yours is along the tracks, where does that leave us? Where is the compromise? “I’m here because I’ve been waiting for someone like you for a very long time.” Then why do we never tangle up our bodies completely, read aloud from the books in our laps, drink from the same cup? Time is still important to me. I’m tired of forming proclamations in my throat but being unable to shout them, breathing but not living, writing but not doing.
